Cheryl Holmén Dean

Cheryl H. Dean is an international award-winning filmmaker whose documentaries celebrate wildlife and nature. She has been filming underwater since 2010 and has advanced, nitrox scuba, and PFI free diving certifications including safety training. Cheryl has served as President of the San Diego Undersea Film Exhibition since 2015 and is a past board member of the San Diego Underwater Photographic Society. In 2015 Cheryl and her husband Nick founded Spindrift Images, LLC a production company focused on wildlife and documentary films. Spindrift Images’ most recent documentary The Witness is a Whale was shot over 5 years in multiple locations worldwide. Cheryl has been effectively communicating scientific discoveries to lay audiences at scientific research organizations throughout her career; she is also an attorney. Cheryl hopes that her storytelling and images will inspire people to protect the astounding biodiversity on our planet.
